AFSCME Local 1598 2007 United Way Campaign

Dear Brothers and Sisters:

It's that time of year when we have the opportunity to help those less fortunate and at the same time give of our ourselves. It is time to support your United Way of Bucks County. With all of the cuts being made to our social programs and our safety nets getting smaller, the need for programs the United Way supports gets bigger.

In response to the growing inequality of wealth in the US, United Way is pioneering new ways to promote family financial stability and public policy activities to encourage adequate funding for vital public programs for the working poor, such as the Low Income Home Energy assistance Program (LIHEAP) and the Earned Income Tax (EITC). These efforts deserve our support.

Extending a helping hand to all people in our community has been a Union tradition. Please join me in supporting the 2007 United Way Campaign. If you have helped in past campaigns, I want to thank you sincerely and ask you to continue your support. If you have not supported the United Way of Bucks County before, now is the time. Your support is needed. Together we can help those in real need now while we work to reduce the causes of need in the communities where we live and work. What is good for our communities is good for our Unions.
